Dies R Us: LAYERS OF LOVE

Happy Thursday everyone! I'm back today for DIES R US, sharing this LOVE card I created using Concord & 9th LAYERS OF LOVE Die. I paired the heart cut-out with the Lawn Fawn Scripty LOVE Word Die....perfect combo!

The links to all of the products used from the Dies R Us Store are shown below. Here is a step-by-step of how I created this card.
I decided to create a Distress Ink background using the "smooshing" technique with a piece of transparency film and watercolor paper. I picked some colors that I love together: Squeezed Lemonade, Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry, and Dusty Concord.

I swiped some Squeezed Lemonade onto the transparency film, spritz some water on top of the ink, and then "smoosh" the plastic around on the paper. This allows you to direct the ink better onto the paper where you want it. It also helps keep the colors vibrant. You will need to put down as much yellow as you want right from the start because it will be harder to add it later as it will mix with the other colors and turn green (as you will see in the final result, haha).

I LOVE how bright the colors stay when you smoosh! This piece will be the background paper for my card.

I smooshed ink onto a smaller piece of watercolor paper because I decided to die cut the word LOVE and the set of flowers from the Layers of Love Die set to add more color to the front of the card.

To create a thicker layer like chipboard, I die-cut several pieces from white cardstock. I then glue the pieces on top of each other. This is a cheap way to make "chipboard" sentiments and accessories!

Finally, I used the largest Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Die to cut out a white rectangle. Then I centered the floral heart die where I wanted it, and cut that piece out. I took a 2nd piece of white cardstock and cut out the striped heart. I then line up the two pieces and glue them together.

I glue the white cardstock on top of the Distress Ink Background. Next, I add the floral "chipboard" and LOVE "chipboard".
My final touch was to add some white pearls. The side view shows some of the dimension.

Today, I ventured out of my comfort zone and made a card with a sentiment and no character image. I rarely do sentiment-only cards, but my friend Jessie challenge me so I had to step up to the plate!! She gave me the idea to use the "you're" and "awesome" from the Concord and 9th Crazy Awesome Stamp Set and recommended teal for the color. I happened to find some coordinating paper. I wasn't so sure about this card, but she kept pushing me to keep going, even when I really wanted to trash it and go find a character stamp, LOL! Then I added the flowers......and fell in LOVE!

Copics:
 Teal: BG10, BG72
Red: R24
Pink: R20, White Pen

And now for the star of the show....these are the gorgeous I Am Roses flowers used on my card:
LY3-426 Mixed Pastel Mini Lily
ZQL 0-3 Pink Soft Green Leaves
ZQST1-151 Foam Head White Color Stamen

I used papers from my stash. The red circle frame is from Marianne Designs. To finish it off I added some white enamel dots. Now, don't forget to come play along with us on the IAR Challenge Blog using flowers from the IAR STORE.

You have until FEBRUARY 8th to link up your project, but remember you must use at least 2 items from I Am Roses. I can't wait to see what you make!

Hugs,
Rosie
