Jaded Blossom: Can't Have A Rainbow Without A Little Rain + Gnome Face Tutorial

 Happy Friday everyone! I'm back today with my latest project for Jaded Blossom. I'm having a blast with the last release so I've created another scene card. My gnome is outside enjoying a cup of coffee, the warm sun, and beautiful rainbow!

I've been asked a lot in the Jaded Blossom Facebook Group how I create the face on the gnome so keep scrolling through this post for a short tutorial. :)

To create this card, I used the Gnome Dies with the Weather Add Ons (rain hat, sun, and cloud). The rainbow is from the Rainbow Dies. The grassy knoll was cut out using the grass border die from Mushroom Dies. I raised the sun, rainbow, and cloud on foam tape for extra dimension.

Now for the long awaited Gnome Face Tutorial. You're gonna be surprised at how easy it is. :)

 

Step 1: Cut your gnome body from white paper. Since I color with Copic Markers, I cut the gnome from Xpress It Blending Card. Now, all you do is color in the bottom portion of the "hat" in skin tone colors to create the face. I used E000, E00, E01, E11, and E13. You can use any skin tone coloring medium you have....colored pencils, markers, or crayons! If you don't want to mess with colorong, then just cut the gnome shape from cream or tan cardstock...easy peasy!

**NOTE: If you want him to have rosy cheeks you can use a cotton swab with pink chalk and add it to the lower sides of his face. If you want to add cheeks closer to his nose, then do this step now before you glue down his mustache.

 

Step 2: I cut the rest of the pieces I was going to use from Copic Xpress It Blending Card and once again used my Copic Markers to color in the pieces.
Do you see the hands by the nose piece? Those are going to be his ears!

Step 3: Adhere his beard, mustache, and nose using glue. Next grab a black pen because we are going to draw in his eyes.

Step 4: I just free-hand the eyes using the Copic Multiliner Pen and color little oval shapes. If you have stamps, you could also use those.

Step 5: Next, you are going to add the extra set of hands to the sides of his head for ears. I usually lay my hat over the top of his head to gauge where his ears should go.

Step 6: The last step is to add his hat and whatever he is holding (coffee mug in this case). I did something a little different with the rain hat this time around. I used my cutting knife and cut a slit along the perforated line so I could slide his head under the rain hat. I liked it better because I was able to line up the hat right above his eyes and his ears.

Jaded Blossom: FRIES OVER GUYS!

 Happy Friday friends! I've been trying to get back to eating low carb and cutting out sugar because that's what works for me and my body when it comes to getting healthier and losing weight. Lately though, I've been having a mad craving for fries! When Jaded Blossom came out with the new Sentiment Strip Dies, the first thing I saw when I cut a strip from yellow cardstock was....FRIES, hahaha! So I decided to try and create a Fries Gift Card Slider using products from the Jaded Blossom Store. I even included a tutorial for you!

 

FRIES GIFT CARD SLIDER TUTORIAL

Step 1: I used the Coffee Slider Die to create the stack of fries and the fry carton. Use the sleeve die to cut two pieces from red cardstock and glue together to form the sleeve. Use the coffee cup insert die and cut the coffee cup insert from yellow cardstock.

Step 2: Slide the yellow cup into the red sleeve and draw a line at the bottom of the yellow cup so you know where to trim it off. Trim off the bottom of the cup and the little tabs on the sides at the top of the cup.

 

Step 3: Using the largest Sentiment Strip Die, cut several strips from yellow cardstock. I cut around 25 strips. You might not use them all. I think my project used about 22 strips.

Step 4: Glue to the yellow cup base. I cut some of the strips shorter and angled them so the fries were different lengths and laying at different angles. I also staggered my first layer of fries when I glued to the cup base so I did trim off overhang from the bottom.

Step 5: Attach your gift card to the back of the fry base with double stick tape or rubber cement. I did not seal the bottom of the red slider, but if you are worried about the gift card falling through, you can always add some glue to the bottom of the red slider.

Step 6: I cut a yellow label using Label Shape Dies 1. The sentiment is from the Galentine's Day Stamp Set. And.....voila.....your Fries Gift Card Slider is complete!

Dies R Us: OCEAN SHADOW BOX CARD

 Happy Tuesday everyone! It's Rosie here today with my last DT post for Dies R Us. I had an amazing time with these wonderful ladies on the team, and want to wish the new ladies lots of fun and success! Today, I'm showing how I created this underwater ocean Shadow Box Card using Lawn Fawn products.

 Let's Get Started!

Step 1: I cut two pieces of the shadow box frame from the Lawn Fawn Shadow Box Card Dies....one piece forms the front and one forms the back. I used the scallop frame from the Shadow Box Card Ocean Add On Dies to create the opening on the front panel. Then, I measured and cut pieces of decorative paper to glue to the inside back panel to create the ocean backdrop. Originally I was only going to put paper on the very back panel, but then decided to also add paper to the sides.

 

 

Step 2: After you glue the decorative paper to the inside, assemble the box. I use Scor-tape because then I don't have to wait for glue to dry.

Step 3: Now comes the fun part....decorating the inside! I cut two waves using the Ocean Add On Dies. I glued one close to the scallop opening. The other one was glued more in the middle of the box. I stamped the scuba diver, fishes, angler fish, and lobster from the Lawn Fawn You Are Sublime Stamps, colored them with Copics, and added them to the inside. I made the scuba diver a girl by adding some lashes. To create depth I add some of the elements on plastic strips and adhere to the back ocean wave panels with foam tape. 

Step 4: I added the sentiment strip to the back of the shadow box using plastic strips also.

Dies R Us: Memory Box Butterfly Heart

 Happy Tuesday everyone! It's Rosie here today showing you how to create a simple, colorful card using 1 die and rainbow patterned paper! I absolutely love this die from Memory Box called BUTTERFLY HEART. I think it makes a dramatic presentation on any card.

Let's Get Started!

Step 1: This die does not cut all the way through which is the brilliant part. It just cuts the outer part of the wings of each butterfly so you can then pull the wings up to create dimension. I cut two butterfly hearts, one from white cardstock and one from rainbow patterned digital paper.

Step 2: I used a craft knife to cut out each butterfly from the rainbow paper. This was the time-consuming part of making this card. If you are short on time, you could just use markers to color each of the wings on the white cardstock. I was just worried I would get ink on the surrounding white areas.

Step 3: Match up and glue the rainbow butterflies on top of the white butterflies. I did one butterfly at a time to make sure I matched them up correctly.

 

Step 4: Find a sentiment you like and stamp it below the butterfly heart. Next, cut a piece of red cardstock at 4"x5.25" to go under the butterfly card panel which is 3.75"x5". Then, glue it to the white card base measuring 4.25"x5.50". The last step is to bend all the butterfly wings upward to create the dimension.

Dies R Us: LAWN FAWN SELFIE FRAMES CARD

 Happy Tuesday everyone! Today, I'm on the Dies R Us Blog sharing a card I created using Lawn Fawn Dies and Stamps. I love the cuteness factor and versatility of their stamps and dies. They are usually my go-to company when I want to create something adorable.

 Let's get started!

 Step 1: I found some coordinating papers and cut my patterned paper to 4 x 5.5, the striped paper is 4.25 x 5.75, and the card base measures 4.5 x 6. Next, I cut two phone shapes from the Lawn Fawn Selfie Frames Die Set.

Step 2: I stamped the deer and bear from the Lawn Fawn For You, Deer Stamp Set on Copic Xpress It Blending Card. I drew in lines to extend their bodies. Then I colored them with Copic Markers (I put the jingle bells over parts of the image to deter image theft).

Step 3: I fussy cut out the deer and bear and glued them to some cloud paper. I outlined the phone die-cut with a gold marker, and then flipped it over and added foam tape to the back. Next, I placed the phone die-cut on top of the animal scene.

Step 4: I felt like the bear needed to be holding something so I decided to stamp the presents from the Lawn Fawn Toboggan Together Stamp Set and cut out the smaller present.

Step 5: I also decided to add some speech bubbles from the Selfie Frames Die Set. I just trimmed the speech bubbles smaller so they fit inside the phone die-cut.
