Before, I get to my card, I wanted to let you know that
CropStop is having a Creative Team call...YIPPEE!! CropStop is looking for 2 committed team members to bring inspiration and creativity to our site through card and layout projects. The Creative Team call is open to all, including international submissions. The Creative Team term is August 1, 2011-January 31, 2012. Deadline for submission is July 15, 2011. You can see all the details
here.
This week's challenge at
CropStop is to use your embossed papers as embellishments. For my two embossed embellishments I made a cream/pink rose and a large, embossed butterfly. I used
Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die to cut the petals from cream cardstock. I then embossed them with
Cuttlebug Perfect Paisley and swiped
Worn Lipstick Distress Ink over the flower cut-outs to bring out the embossing. Then I followed this
video tutorial to make the rose. Boy, making flowers is a lot of work, but definitely cheaper! I think the more practice I get with them, the easier they will be.

For the large butterfly, I just used
Cuttlebugs Butterflies Emboss & Cut set. How simple is that?!! It has a die that cuts out the shape and then there are 4 different butterfly embossing folders included. I LOVE it!! I cut two butterflies and glued just the bodies together so I could fold up the wings of the top butterfly. After embossing the CTMH tulip cardstock, I used a
sanding block to expose the white core. Then I topped the entire thing with
Stardust Stickles and added white pearls for the body.

Here's my girlie card (you can see the full recipe at the bottom of my post)! I think this card is one of my faves. I used
Sweetie Tilda and colored her with Copics and chalk. The center of her dress is paper-pieced. Her sleeves, socks, & bows are colored with Copics and chalk and then covered in
Stardust Stickles. I used SB Lacey Circles for the frame behind Tilda, embossed it with
Cuttlebug Swiss Dots and rubbed
Walnut Stain Distress Ink over the dots. The pink frame is cut using
SB Floral Doily Motifs and edged with
Stardust Stickles. The pink panel is embossed with
Cuttlebug Perfect Paisley. The kraft border was made using SB Parisian Accents.

Here's a close-up of Sweetie Tilda:

Here's a side view. I used pop-dots behind Tilda and behind the pink frame. The champagne colored pearls are from Close To My Heart. The white pearls for the butterfly bodies came from my stash (I think they are Recollections).
