Polka Dot Orchard: Pool Hair Days & Beach Party Flip Flop Cards

Hi everyone! I hope you are doing well! I took a week off from crafting to work on my house and craft room. We moved a little over a year ago and life got busy so I never finished unpacking and putting up pictures. I finally had enough! So I spent the week trying to make this house a home. I have to say that it's really starting to come together and finally feels like we are planting roots. We seem to move around about every 4-6 years, but I decided this time around I'm not waiting for the next move date! It's been a lot of hard work, but I'm excited about having a functioning craft room again. Here are pictures of my desk area!

 

 

With summer coming to an end and school starting back up, I decided I wanted to transport myself somewhere tropical! I love the beach and ocean so I created these flip flop cards using two digital sets from Polka Dot Orchard called POOL HAIR DAYS and BEACH PARTY.  This is the first one I showcased a couple of weeks ago on Facebook.

 

 

Yesterday, I created 6 more! For these 5, I used foiled paper from a paper pad I bought at Hobby Lobby called Be Bold Be Bright. I created multiple flip flops on a sheet of printer paper in word, and printed it out. I cut the patterned paper down to fit over the printed areas, taped them down with double-stick tape and ran the paper through the printer again so it printed the flip flops on the patterned paper. Then I printed the digis again on two sheets of Copic paper. I colored the black bottom of the flip flops on one sheet. On the second sheet I colored the flip flop straps so I could cut the straps out and adhere to the flip flops using foam tape. The straps got a coat of CTMH Liquid Glass to make them shiny. The last step was to glue on these gorgeous paper cherry blossoms from I Am Roses.

 

On this last card, I created a tropical beach scene on the flip flop using Beach Party.

Jaded Blossom: August Stamp Release BLOG HOP!

Hey Everyone! Welcome to Jaded Blossom's August Stamp Release Blog Hop.

Today, I created this gift set which includes a card and a bag topper for this awesome I (heart) the 80s shirt with pink lightening bolt earrings! I LOVE every single thing from this 80s inspired release!  

  To make the card and bag topper, I rubbed distress oxide ink over paper and then created a light stencil background by dotting a wet paper towel over the 80s stencil. I also added water splatters. Next, I stamped the star/rainbow and the I (heart) the 80's over the colors using embossing ink and then heat embossed black embossing powder on top of the stamped images. I used the Scallop Rectangles Dies 1, Rectangle Dies 1, and Scallop Circle Dies for the card. To create the bag topper, I used the Slimline Dies.

Jaded Blossom: AUGUST Sneak Peek Day 4: 80's ICONS FREEBIE

I'm all about inky backgrounds with this release because nothing says 80s like bright splashes of color! This time around I stuck to blue, purple and pink for this rollerskating card. When I was younger I used to be outside rollerskating all the time. It was my thang! And I could even do some tricks. Now....not so much, LOL! It hurts a lot more to fall now that I'm older.

My son LOVES Pop Rocks and I found these different flavored ones on Amazon. I created this gift box for them using the Scallop Caddy Die. I used Distress Oxide Inks to create the colorful background. Then I laid the 80s Stencil on top and used a wet paper towel over the stencil to create the light designs. Next, I stamped the "you make my heart go BOOM" in embossing ink and heat embossed with black embossing powder.

 

 

I recreated the colors on a 2nd sheet of paper and stamped the image again and heat embossed it so I could cut out the boom box and put it on an action wobble. The boom box shakes!

Rainbow Dies and Rainbow Doodle

 

  

My project is a gift set with a card and LEGWARMERS! I totally forgot how much I love legwarmers and then I saw them on Amazon...CRAZY right?!! So of course I got me some bright pink ones. I'm thinking I need a rainbow pair too, LOL!

 

 

I used gold embossing powder to create the outline of the Rainbow Doodle image and Be Happy sentiment on watercolor paper. Then I used a paintbrush and Zig Clean Color Markers to color in the details. For the tag, I cut out the tag shape using the Treat Tag Die. I added splatters of ink onto the tag. Then I cut out the rainbow stripes from watercolor paper, colored the stripes in with the Zig Markers and a paintbrush and glued the rainbow onto the tag.

Kawaii 80s, 80s Stencil, Glasses Dies, and Pump Up The Jam

I am soooooo in heaven right now! My project is a gift set with a card and coordinating light-up glasses. I found these blue light up glasses on Amazon. I will tell you that the battery pack unfortunately is wired to the glasses and is NOT detachable. The battery pack also makes a low humming noise when turned on so I can see that being a bit irritating. They are fun though and have 3 different light displays! I used 3 of the 4 products featured today: 

80s STENCIL, GLASSES DIES, and PUMP UP THE JAM. 

The background was created using Distress Oxide Inks. I spread the ink around first, then laid the stencil on top and used a wet paper towel to pick up the ink in the open areas of the stencil.

  

The best part of this gift set is that I used Glow-in-the-Dark Acrylic Paint on the glasses because the sentiment says, "Let's glow crazy, it's your Birthday!". So much FUN, right?!!

Jaded Blossom AUGUST Challenge: FRUIT

I decided to try some more water-coloring. It's definitely not as easy as it looks. Trying to figure out how much water to load onto the brush is a learning process. But I persevered....barely, haha! I stamped the watermelon from the KAWAII FRUIT set onto watercolor paper using Ink on 3 Fadeout Ink. Then I used Carmine Red and Deep Green Zig Clean Color Watercolor Markers to color the watermelon. I wasn't really feeling it and then added the splatter....and then it didn't look so bad.

 

The sentiment is from GO BANANAS! I added some splatters to that too. The stitched black frame around the sentiment was created using Rectangle Dies 1. Do you see that cute scallop border? That's from Scallop Rectangle Dies 2.

Jaded Blossom: GNOME BREWED

Happy Friday everyone! Have you checked out this month's monthly challenge at Jaded Blossom? The theme for July is RED, WHITE and BLUE. You still have another day to play along with us. The deadline to link up your card is August 1st at 11:59pm PST for a chance to win a FREE stamp set of your choice!

Those of you who follow me know I love gnomes and I love sugary coffee so this month's release has been one of my faves! Today I made a gift of instant coffee packets for a friend using Gnome Brewed. To create the holder, I used the Scallop Caddy Die.

Teal: BG32, BG34, BG72, BG75, BG78

Purple: V04, V12, V15, V17, BV08

Gold Sharpie Paint Marker

For the background, I stamped the smaller coffee cup from the Gnome Brewed Stamp Set onto watercolor paper with embossing ink, sprinkled on gold embossing powder and heat set it. Next, I used my Zig Watercolor Markers, water, and a paintbrush to color in the cups. To finish it off, I splattered the purple and mint ink all over the panel.
