Conie Fong Choo Choo Train

Happy Thursday everyone! I'm back today with my 2nd post, but this one is not so spooky. For this card I used Conie Fong's Choo Choo Train. I'm always on the search for cute boy images. Even though my son is a teenager now, I just love this image!

Copics:
Skin: E00, E01, E11, E13, E21, E04
Hair: E42, E47, E49
Red: R24, R27, R29, R39
Blue: B93, B95, B97, B99
Black: C2, C3, C5, C6, C8, C10
Yellow: Y05, Y15, YR23, YR27

When I saw this digi stamp, I immediately thought of the movie Polar Express. I typed this quote from the movie into MS Word and printed it on Bristol Smooth Cardstock. Then I inked the paper with various colors of DI Oxide Inks. Next I splattered water on top and added dots of white acrylic paint. It made the perfect backdrop to this adorable boy on his choo choo train.

Conie Fong has some of the best digital images in her Etsy Shop! If you are like me, you're gonna want them all! Head over and grab some of your faves today.

I Am Roses + Krista Smith Vampire Halloween

Happy Thursday everyone! Today is Halloween so I had to make a card featuring some darker colors of flowers from I Am Roses. I paired them with this amazing digi from Krista Smith (formerly Saturated Canary) called Vampire Halloween. I colored her up a few days ago and finally got her on a card.

Copics:
Skin: C0, C1, C2, C3, E000
Hair: C2, C8, Black
Red: R27, R29, R37, R39
Black Roses: C3, C5, C8, C10
Leaves: BG96, BG99
Black  Background: C6, C8, C10

I found some Halloween paper in my stash that was cream with black trees and crows. I really wanted some red paper. So I pulled out my Copics, R27 and R39, and colored it. I used several I Am Roses flowers to frame the image. I colored the leaves darker using BG99.

Don't forget you still have until NOVEMBER 8th to enter the current I Am Roses Challenge!! You must use at least 3 products from I Am Roses on your entry. The best part is that there are 4 prizes up for grabs!! Don't miss out on your chance to win these stunning paper flowers!

C.C. Designs: Make A Reindeer Die Coloring Tutorial

Happy Tuesday everyone! I received a lot of compliments and inquiries on how I colored the Make A Reindeer Die from C.C. Designs so I created a step-by-step coloring tutorial to guide you through the process. I hope this helps you to color your own Reindeer die-cut. I'm going to focus this tutorial on coloring the main body of the reindeer with Copic Markers. Here we go!

Step 1: I cut all the pieces of the die from Xpress-It Blending Card.

Step 2: I used a pencil to draw in the areas of the face and body that I'm going to color lighter.

Step 3: I used W0 to color in the first layer of color on the face and stomach.

Step 4: I added W3 around the bottom and side edges of the face.

Step 5: I blended W1 towards the center, expanding the shaded area towards the middle.

Step 6: I added W0 over the center of the face and blended towards the W1 layer.

Step 7: Next, I added W3 on the stomach area and placed the darker color under the chin.

Step 8: I added W1 next and extended the shaded area to the center.

Step 9: I added W0 to the bottom and center of the stomach, and blended it towards the W1 layer.

Step 10: To give the stomach area the look of fur, I took W5 and added little flicks.

Step 11: Next, I added short flicks with W3.

Step 12: Then I added more short flicks with W1.

Step 13: To break up the W color a little, I added a few flicks of E33.

Step 14: Since the lighter colors faded the darker flicks a little, I added a few more thin flicks of W5.

Step 15: Next, I started to add the body fur by added flicks with E18 around the edges of the die and short flicks at the bridge of the nose.

Step 16: I extended the line of the flicks using E37.

Step 17: To fill in the white areas even more, I added thin, longer flicks using E35.

Step 18: I finished the fur by filling in the white areas with E33 using a flicking motion over the current lines.

This picture shows all the pieces colored in. Instead of coloring the antlers, I re-cut those pieces from decorative paper.
 Copics:
Light color of face: W0, W1, W3
Stomach: W0, W1, W3, W5, E33
Brown Fur: E33, E35, E37, E18
Pink: R20, R22
Red: R24, R27, R29, R56, R59
Black: C5, C8, C10
Antlers: Decorative Paper
Eyes: Black Cardstock

And here is Rudolf completely assembled!

I hope this inspires you to color your die-cuts using your markers or pencils. It definitely gives your finished piece more dimension and texture. Be sure to head over to the C.C. Designs Store to grab your Make A Reindeer Die. He's definitely a cutie!

Rosie

C.C. Designs: TINY CHRISTMAS

The OCTOBER RELEASE from C.C. Designs was full of so much Christmas goodness! I love the entire release!! Now that it's getting closer to my favorite holiday, I've been inspired to make some homemade decorations this year. A couple years ago we bought a huge, 9-foot tree that we decorate in teal and white colors. But, I have a little table-top tree that I want to create homemade ornaments for in more traditional colors.

For my project today, I created an ornament using a small embroidery hoop. I stamped some characters from the TINY CHRISTMAS Stamp Set onto some 18 count white Aida Cross Stitch Fabric using the C.C. Designs Black Olive Ink Pad. I then went over the lines with a Copic Multiliner to darken them a little. Next, I colored up the images using Copic Markers. You want to use a light touch as you get closer to the stamped lines because the ink will bleed.

 Copics:
Skin: E000, E00, E01, E11, E04
Hair: C2, C5
Red: R24, R27, R29, R59
Green: YG23, G82, G28
Pink: RV02, RV04, RV09
Teal: BG10, BG13, BG15, BG18
Reindeer Brown: E11, E23, E25, E27
Light Brown: E41, E42, E43
Antlers: E43, E47
Ears: R11, R20
Bell: C1, C3, Y15, YG23
Black: C3, C6, C10

Because the sentiment has small letters it doesn't stamp well on the cross-stitch fabric, so I stamped it on white cardstock. I used the embroidery hoop to trace the curved lines around the sentiment and cut it out. Then I used Copic R27 to create the red border, and raised the sentiment on foam tape.

My plan is to make several of these embroidery hoop ornaments...some with stamped images and others with different Christmas fabric. They are so much fun! Be sure to head over to the C.C. Designs Store and grab your favorite stamps and dies before they sell out!

Rosie

The Greeting Farm Stamp Feature: SANTA BABY & MERRY CHRISTMAS Cutting Dies

Happy Monday friends! I'm back today for The Greeting Farm showcasing the two new large word cutting dies: SANTA BABY and MERRY CHRISTMAS. I love that these dies can be used alone or combined with characters to create different looks. For this Christmas card, I combined the Santa Baby die with a digital stamp in the store called BIRTHDAY BOY.

Copics:
Skin: E000, E00, E01, E11, E13, E04
Hair: E42, E47, E49
Red: R24, R27, R29, R59
Green: YG24, YG25, YG67
White: C0, C1, C2, C3

I cut Santa Baby from white cardstock and then colored the word Santa in red and the word Baby in green. Next, I cut the word multiple times from white cardstock (5 times, I think) and glued them on top of each other to create thicker letters like chipboard. Then, I topped it with the words that were colored in red and green.

For the inside of the card, I used the Merry Christmas cutting die. The tree stamp came from an older set called Happy Winter.

Be sure to head over to The Greeting Farm Store and grab your favorites! You're going to LOVE them all!

The Greeting Farm Stamp Feature: THE MORE THE MERRIER

TGIF friends! I'm back today for The Greeting Farm showcasing this newly released set called THE MORE THE MERRIER. This set shows how woodland animals celebrate the holidays in style! When I was Hobby Lobby recently, I spotted some round, flat ornaments covered in kraft paper so I decided to create a forest scene.

Aren't these critters adorable?! I love them!

I stamped the animals, wood door, and wreath on Copic Xpress It Blending Card and colored them with Copics. Then I fussy cut them out. I used Copics to color the forest scene onto the ornament kraft paper. The ink kind of pooled into thick lines so it looks more like it's painted with acrylic...which to me adds to the homemade look.

Be sure to head over to The Greeting Farm Store and grab your favorites! You're going to LOVE them all! I'll be back on Monday with the a card featuring the new word dies.

Hugs,
Rosie

Make it Crafty: GNOMEY PETER

Happy Friday everyone! For those of you who don't know me well, I absolutely LOVE gnomes! One year for my birthday, my hubby went on a search to multiple stores in our area and found me a huge gnome, along with two smaller buddies. He said all the ladies thought he was so awesome carrying these gnomes around the store in search for more, LOL! So when I saw Gnomey Peter, in the Make it Crafty Store, I knew I had to color him up! Isn't he AWESOME?!!

 Copics:
Skin: E000, E00, E01, E11, E13, E04
Cheeks/Nose: R20, R21, R22
Hair: C3, C5
Red: R24, R27, R29, R56, R59
Green: YG25, YG67, G28
Black: C3, C5, C8, C10
Patches: YG25, G28, R27, R59

I knew the perfect sentiment to pair with him right from the beginning based on his little attitude. I typed up "Gnomie don't play that!" in MS Word and printed it on white cardstock. I giggle every time I look at this card!

I kept my card clean and simple because I wanted him to be the star! I fussy cut Gnomey Peter and raised him on foam tape for extra dimension.

Don't forget to check out the amazing Coloring Tutorials on the Make it Crafty website. These classes are very affordable and provide so much step-by-step instruction that you will be coloring like a pro in no time.

Zoe also started a site called The Coloring Lab. There is a FREE class on the site now that is fantastic for beginners, but also a great refresher for those who are advanced. There will be 5 new stamp sets, an adorable Make A Reindeer Metal Die, a new Christmas Paper Pad, and some coordinating Christmas Enamel Dots.

Today I'm previewing the cutest Rudolf ever made using the Make A Reindeer Metal Die. The great thing about working with Metal Dies is the versatility. You can keep it easy peasy by cutting the pieces from different colored cardstock and gluing together, or you can cut the pieces from white cardstock and color the pieces to achieve more depth. For this card, I decided to color him up using Copic Markers!

 Copics:
Brown: E33, E35, E37, E18
Face/Stomach: W0, W1, W3, W5
Pink: R20, R22
Red: R24, R27, R29, R56, R59
Black: C5, C8, C10
Antlers: Decorative Paper
Eyes: Black Cardstock

Isn't he so much fun?!! I love him so much! To create this awesome wintry, forest scene, I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Backdrop: Portrait Metal Die. It's one of my fave dies to create scenes with.

The decorative paper is from Penny Black Festive and Frosty 6x6 Paper Pad. I raised several elements on foam tape for extra dimension. The sentiment is from another C.C. Designs October Release Set called Christmas Cuties.

Don't forget, there will be two Preview Day Mini Hops on the C.C. Designs Blog...one today and one tomorrow.
