Happy Belated Birthday Amy!

Our friend Amy's birthday was October 8th, but due to conflict schedules we couldn't meet up to celebrate for a couple of weeks after her bday. Since she LOVES owls, I made her this card:

That CUTE blingy Owl is actually a sticker I got from Hobby Lobby. It comes that way!! I can't remember who makes it, but it comes on a sheet with 2 rhinestone owls, flowers, and a long strip of leaves. My husband was sooooooo impressed because he thought I arranged all the rhinestones individually to make the owl. I said...I wish I was that talented. He said that I'm very talented which is why he thought I arranged them all....he's the sweetest!!

All the dp on my card is from the CTMH paper pack called Olivia (it's a new paper pack that was released in the Fall/Winter 2010 catalog). The Olivia pack is full of Autumn inspired paper....LOVE IT!! The Kraft cardstock is from Recollections. The burgundy cardstock and wide ribbon came from my stash. The gold rhinestones in the corners came from the $1 bin at Michaels. The scallop circles were cut with my Spellbinder Classic Scalloped Circle Large Die. The two Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page sets I used are called Cherish and Layered Arches. The sentiment is hand-written using a black Sakura Glaze pen. I used Walnut Stain Distress Ink around the edges of my scallops and border punches.

Here's a close-up of the rolled fabric flower. I think these flowers are fabulous...and so easy to make!!

I found a tutorial on Tracy's blog here showing how to make these awesome rolled fabric flowers. The middle piece was a button with a white pearl center. I cut the button piece off the back, took out the white pearl, and replaced it with a brown, glittery brad.

Surprisingly, there was no stamping involved in the making of this card so it came together pretty quickly.

Marci & Luka Halloween Gift Bags

My little boy started Preschool this year so I guess now I start the ritual of making things for his classroom. His first school party was Halloween. He went back and forth on who/what he wanted to be for Halloween, but he finally settled on Batman....the cutest Batman out there in my opinion! :)

I decided to make each of the kiddos in his class gift bags to take home with them. I didn't want to make anything too scary since they are just 4-year-olds. Then I remembered I recently ordered these AWESOME stamps from La-La Land Crafts called Super Cupcake Marci and Star Boy Luka. I figured most of the boys would dress up as superheroes so these stamps were perfect!


I bought cheap little black gift bags from Wal-mart along with some curling ribbon and party toys. Each bag was filled with toys and candy and tied on the sides with the curling ribbon. I cheated on the images though because I didn't color each one (I had to make 20 gift bags and just ran out of time). Since each stamp comes with a colored sample, I just photocopied the colored sample, cut each image out, and glued them to the front....easy peasy!


Hope you like my little mini gift baggies. The teacher said the kids LOVED them!! That makes it all worth it!! :)

Spooky Halloween To You!

Well, actually it's a "Not so Spooky Halloween to You!" How can you make a Tilda into something spooky? She's just too cute to spook, LOL!

I don't usually do very many Halloween cards....actually, now that I think about it, this is my very first Halloween card! Last year I bought some halloween-themed Martha Stewart punches and didn't use them once. :( I decided I would finally put them to use on my Spooky Halloween Easel Card.

I also realized, I don't own any Tildas or Edwins from the Halloween collection so I improvised. Instead I used Pirate Tilda and Elf Tilda (who I turned into a witch). That's one of the things I love about these Magnolia images....they are sooooo versatile!

I colored both of my images with Copics and then did all my shading with chalk. On all the black areas I added Stickles for a little sparkle. I paper-pieced Pirate Tilda's shirt and head-wrap with purple paper that had black polka dots and added Stickles to the dots.

For Elf Tilda, I cut off her wings and gave her purple/black-striped tights. The hat is a paper-piecing pattern from Scrapbooks Etc. and can be found here. I just hand-traced the hat and made it a little larger in the middle. Then I colored in a black band on the hat and added more Stickles.

On to my Spooky Halloween Easel Card. (Just a side note, my camera was not cooperating today so the pictures are a little washed out. The colors are brighter in person. Hopefully I get my camera figured out soon!)

The papers came from Recollections Ravenhead Manor 8x8 paper pad. The spooky house was another paper-piecing pattern from Scrapbooks Etc. here. The spider web punch is from Martha Stewart. The bottom grass punch is also Martha Stewart. It's actually an Easter border punch with grass and bunnies. I cut the bunnies out and replaced the space with mice (also from a MS border punch...I cut the mice out and glued them in various places on the card).

I added stickles to the punched out spider web at the top of the card. The ghosts are Ms. Grossman stickers. The glittery bats are MS stickers. I put cornstarch on the back of the bat stickers to get rid of the stickiness, and then put them on pop-dots. The clear rhinestone swirls (for the smoke) are from Walmart Best Occasions. The Trick or Treat sentiment is from CTMH October Word Puzzle (D1311).

The top striped paper came from my stash and punched with the spider web punch and more stickles added. The rest of the paper is from the Recollections Ravenhead Manor paper pad. The black, glossy, chipboard frame came from Recollections also. The broom under my "Witch" Tilda is from Jolee's By You Witch Accessories. The sentiment is from CTMH Thriller (D1442) and embossed with CTMH black embossing powder.

Joy Christmas Card using Tilda with Gift

Who wouldn't be full of joy if this cute Tilda came to the door holding her gift?! I think she's the sweetest thing in the world! I colored my Tilda with Copics and then did all my shading with chalks. The great thing about chalks is that if you mess up you can take a little chalk eraser, erase it, and start over! Gotta love a quick do-over if a mistake happens, LOL!

I added white flower soft to the white areas of Tilda's hat and coat. To make the buttons shiny I added CTMH Liquid Glass. Then I added gold stickles to the gold ribbon around the present and red stickles to the little dots on the wrapping paper (although it's hard to tell in the photos, the present does sparkle!). I cut Tilda out and raised her on popdots on the white CTMH cardstock.

I used my MS punch to make the snowflake border. I backed the white paper with some green and cut around it. I also added stickles to the "leftover" snowflakes that were punched out and glued them around Tilda.

The red, glittered snowflake dp behind Tilda came from My Mind's Eye Wonderful Winter paper pack. I'm not sure who makes the green, tree dp (the cover to my paper pack got lost and there's no info on the back of the sheet). The word JOY also came from another sheet in this same paper pack. I just cut out the letters and put pop dots behind them. To finish off the card, I added large and small sparkle jewels to the corners of both dp's.

The awesome green, grosgrain ribbon came from Crafty Ribbons and is called Snowflakes-forest/white.

I punched out some larger snowflakes with a MS punch in white and green and glued on a lot of MS glitter. Here's a close up pic of the larger snowflakes. After layering the snowflakes on top of each other, I added little, green gems to the centers and raised them on popdots.

Santa's Helper Edwin

Here's another Christmas card I made for the Crafty Ribbons Christmas Challenge (see previous posts).

On this one, I used Santa's Helper Edwin...isn't he the cutest thing in the world! I colored him with Copics, chalks, and a red sharpie. I'm still building up my Copic collection and realize I don't have any reds. :( So I made do with what I had on hand and that ended up being a Sharpie. :)

I added CTMH Liquid Glass to his buttons, belt, and boots for some shine (kinda hard to tell in the photos). The sentiment was actually part of a piece of dp in the Wonderful Winter glittered paper pack from My Mind's Eye. I like the shape of my Nestabilities Labels 1, but it was too big to frame the sentiment so I used it as a template and traced around it until I got the shape I needed. Then I did the same for the green frame and cut out the middle with my craft knife. I wanted it to look like a frame so I raised it up with popdots. I glued part of Edwin to the top and put popdots behind the rest of him to make him level with the green frame.

All of the dp is from the same paper pack, MME Wonderful Winter. The Merry Christmas ribbon came from Crafty Ribbons. I love the olive green color on the ribbon and the little white snowflakes which just happen to match my dp perfectly!

The felt reindeer charm came from my stash. I punched out various sizes of snowflakes with my MS punches (the smaller ones came from a border punch) and added stickles. The large snowflake is raised up on popdots. Below is a side view so you can see the dimension better.

Thanks again for all the wonderful comments on my cards and projects! I really appreciate all the love! I admire and am inspired by so many of you so it's really a humbling experience to see the comments you have left. Stayed tuned because I have one more card to share tomorrow.

You're My Shining Star!

In my previous post I mentioned that I received ribbons from Crafty Ribbons. Part of the deal was to make two projects and mail them back to Ali in Great Britain. I actually made 3 cards using the ribbon and my Maggies!

Today I'm showing you my first card using Noble Tilda and some glitter ornament ribbon called Black Sheer Baubles.

Closeup of Tilda: I colored Tilda with Copics and chalk. Then I added lots of stickles to her dress and Close to My Heart Liquid Glass to all the pink areas. I just love my CTMH Liquid Glass!! It's a little thicker than the other stuff I've found on the market and comes out slower so I have better control in smaller areas.

Full view of card: This Christmas ribbon is sheer black with silver, pink & purple ornaments covered in lots of glitter. That's how the ribbon comes....I didn't have to add the glitter! Isn't it fabulous!!

The dot DP is from the Paper Studio and called Lime/Pink Random Dots. Where are the lime dots, your asking? Well, I actually colored the Lime dots with a purple marker and then added purple stickles. The sentiment is from a Close to My Heart set called Wishing Star (D1333). I stamped it in Dusty Concord Distress Ink, wrote over the sentiment with a purple glitter pen and added purple stickles to the word "Star".

I covered a wood star ornament with the white/silver dp which came from a Martha Stewart pad that had various gold and silver double-sided sheets. I then inked the edges with Dusty Concord Distress Ink. Silver rhinestone swirls finish off my card.

Here's a side view: Tilda's legs were glued to the ornament and pop dots were added behind her head and body to level her out with the star ornament. The sentiment was also popped up with popdots.

Crafty Ribbons Christmas Challenge #18

Recently I signed up for the Crafty Ribbons Christmas Challenge #18 here. You should check out the store when you get a chance because they carry all sorts of CUTE ribbon. I was one of the lucky few who signed up in time to be included in the challenge. Ali from Crafty Ribbons mailed me 10 different ribbon samples and all I have to do is create 2 items using the ribbons and then mail them back to Great Britain.

Ladybugs, Ladybugs, Ladybugs!

My friend was recently invited to a little girl's birthday party and wanted something homemade for the gift. The theme....ladybugs!! Thank goodness I had two Tilda stamps with ladybugs! I suggested she order a Name Frame for the birthday girl and she loved the idea so I got to work. I decided she also needed a matching card and gift bag. :)

Here's what I made:

Ladybug Gift Bag: I cut out big red circles and then cut them in half for the ladybug bodies and glued them to a plain black gift bag. Next, I punched out smaller black circles for the dots and heads (circles cuts in half). For a little bling, I added flat sparkles for their eyes.

Ladybug Birthday Card: The layout for my card was inspired by a card I saw on Pam Spark's Blog, Expressions With Heart. She is an AWESOME cardmaker and I love her fabulous creations. Her card can be seen here.

I used Ladybug Tilda and colored her with Copics and chalks (all of the shading). I added stickles to the black dots on her jacket, black tummy area, white lacy areas of the hearts and the lacy trim of her hat. I cut the scalloped circle using my Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Circle Large Die.

The ladybug border punch is from Martha Stewart. The red glitter scroll background paper is from Deena's Penny Lane Cardstock paper pack. I'm not sure who made the LOVE dp. The bottom ladybug paper came from TPC Studio 8x8 Bugs and Butterflies Cardstock Pad. I cut out extra ladybugs and popped some of them up on popdots to add additional dimension (you can see it better from the side view below).

Name Frame: For the name frame I created a little scene to go in the corner using Tilda with Ladybug. I used chalk to created the blue sky. The fence with sunflowers is a 3-D sticker. I just placed the sticker on top of my scallop circle (cut with my Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Circle Large Die) and then cut off the edges with a craft knife. I colored Tilda with Copics and chalk. Stickles were added to her dress and to the dots on her pockets. I added CTMH Liquid Glass to her boots for some extra shine.

Here's the completed Name Frame: I used a Ladybug Martha Stewart Border Punch around the picture of Kinley.

The gift was a huge hit and Kinley's mom actually placed it on the cake table with the matching card for additional decoration. My friend showed me pictures of the party and I have to say the "Ladybug" party theme was sooooo cute and the cake was adorable! All that cuteness makes me want a baby girl sometimes. Then my son runs me ragged and I think I'm back to my motto of "one and done", LOL!
