here today sharing an adorable critter birthday card using all dies!
That's right folks....all the elements on this card were created using
various die-cuts. Grab your coffee and get settled in because I'm going
to break down step-by-step how I created this!
The
first thing I did was cut all my elements from white paper. I decided I
wanted to ink up the Lawn Fawn Meadow Backdrop with Distress Oxide Ink
and color the other elements with Copic Markers to give the dies more
depth. That's the great thing about dies...you can cut the pieces from
patterned paper or various colors of cardstock or even from white paper
to color yourself. I cut the backdrop twice from Bristol Smooth
cardstock and the other elements from Xpress It Blending Card.
I
knew I wanted additional critters on this card, so I pulled out the
Karen Burniston Woodland Animals and also die-cut those from Xpress It
Blending Card.
To
create the clouds, I decided to use a die to create a stencil from
cardstock. I used one of the cloud borders from the Lawn Fawn Puffy
Cloud Borders Dies and cut a piece of white cardstock.
Since
this die has stitching along the border, I took some glue and placed a
thin layer on the back side of the die to seal the stitched holes.
Sealing the holes prevents stitch marks when you rub the Distress Oxide
Ink over the edge. Be sure to let it dry completely.
I
cut a piece of white Bristol Smooth cardstock at 4"x5.25" for the cloud
panel (this piece will go behind the meadow border die). I rubbed
Broken China and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink along the top edge of
the Lawn Fawn Puffy Cloud Border, moving it around as I moved down.
I
also inked up the Meadow Backdrop Die using the blues at the top of the
border and then Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron Distress Oxide Inks along
the grassy areas. Once it was all inked up, I spritzed water on the
green areas and blotted with a paper towel. On the 2nd Meadow Backdrop
die-cut I cut off the bottom grassy knoll and inked that up as well.
I always used foam tape or pop-dots to create dimension. I added foam tape to the Meadow Backdrop and the extra grassy knoll.
I placed the cloud panel on the back of the main Meadow Backdrop.
Then I added the extra grassy knoll to the bottom of the card.
I
added the Meadow Backdrop scene to a piece of patterned cardstock
(4.75"x6"), then a green mat (5"x6.25"), and finally onto the white card
base (5.25"x6.5").
I
colored the tulips pink with Copic Markers and glued them to the top of
the green stems. The other stem that was part of the top grassy knoll
was snipped off since I knew it was going to be covered up by the fox.
Then I colored all the other pieces with markers to give them more depth
and glued them together. You can see how different they look colored by
hand instead of paper-piecing.
To
keep everything on the card a die, I decided to use one of these
Birthday Top Edgers for the sentiment instead of a stamp. I die-cut the
Make A Wish edger from black cardstock and then fussy cut each of the
words.
And
here is the card all put together! I decided to add more clouds in the
sky on foam tape so I used the Memory Box Puffy Clouds Dies for those.
