Back at the beginning of February, The Greeting Farm blog had a digital relay race while the owners were at CHA in California. They gave everyone who wanted to participate a free digital image on Sunday. Then you had until 6pm on Monday to create a card with that image and upload it to their gallery. If you played by the rules, you were emailed the next free digital image. Then you had until 6pm the following night to upload your new card, which earned you the next free image, and so on. FUN, right?! Well the first free image given out was called Mer Ian. Here's the card I created for the first day of the Digi Relay Race:
Most of the paper is old Creative Memories paper (from a long, long time ago). To add dimension, I used pop dots to raise up the moon, Mer Ian and the front wave. I used Martha Stewart loose glitter on Mer Ian's hair and MS glitter pens for his scales. I added small gold pearls to his necklace and blue pearls to the waves. The sentiment is from Close To My Heart. I stamped it in black ink and then wrote over it with a Black Sakura Glaze pen.
So the next day after I uploaded my Mer Ian card, I was emailed a digital image called Toby Cub. Now, I don't have much practice at coloring animals so this was a stretch for me. On top of that, I don't have a lot of Copic markers so I had to make due with what I had. Here he is:
I used E00 and E33 for the lighter areas of Toby. The rest of him was colored with my Sharpie Markers. The patterned paper and sentiment came from DCWV Nana's Nursery Baby Boy, the corduroy brads came from Close To My Heart and the ribbon from Michaels. I also added glitter glue around the blue cardstock circle and around the sentiment.
My final card during this relay event used a digital image called Charlotte. Now, this event was supposed to go all week long so we would have earned 5 free digital images. However, there was such a huge turnout, the contest came to a screeching halt after only three days because the site kept crashing! I guess when you mention free, everyone turns up for a challenge, LOL! Here's my last card for the relay:
I was inspired by a layout (Winning Combination) in the CTMH idea book "Originals." The papers are from Close To My Heart Silhouette's paper pack. The sentiment is from CTMH "Shining Star" stamp set. The flowers were made by cutting a scalloped circle with my Nestabilities. After cutting out the circle, I cut each scallop towards the center and bent up the "petals." I then glued a red button in the middle (these were inspired by Emilee Smith, another CTMH Consultant). The black, glitter brad is from Paper Studio Spare Parts.
I colored Charlotte's skin with Copic E33 and her cheeks with R32. Her headband and scarf are E00. The rest of Charlotte is colored with Sharpie Markers. I then used glitter glue for her shirt, belt, pant trim, shoes, and eyeshadow.
I hope you enjoyed these creations! I have several more cards I've created using these adorable images from The Greeting Farm....so stay tuned!
Love and Happy Scrapping!
