Inspiration Monday--SEEING DOUBLE!

Happy Monday y'all! Hope you had a great weekend! This weekend involved babysitting my 2 godchildren....one is 3 and the other is 10 months old. They are adorable, but definitely lots of work. Let's just say my baby fever is now gone, LOL! I'm sure Isaiah is relieved because he wasn't too excited about me talking babies, haha. This week is crazy because not only do I have several projects I need to get done, but I also have to get things ready for Isaiah's fall party on Wednesday. I can't wait to share pics!

This week's theme at La-La Land Crafts is:

SEEING DOUBLE

Happy Monday y'all! Hope you had a great weekend! We had the opportunity to go to the Dallas Arboretum with some dear friends on Saturday, and it was really nice. They had it all decorated with pumpkins and a huge pumpkin patch! My favorite part was the Chihuly Glass Sculptures placed throughout the Arboretum.....AMAZING!! You can view tons of pictures online HERE. I hear it's even more awesome in the spring....I can't wait to go back!

This week we have a new theme at La-La Land Crafts:

Hard to believe we are coming up on the end of October....just a couple more months and it will be Christmas....HOLY MOLY!! I'm so not prepared!!

La-La Land Crafts Inspiration Monday-MINI RELEASE & SKETCH!

Hi everyone!! Today at La-La Land Crafts, we are bringing you a very special Inspiration Monday.....a Mini Release of 4 brand new stamps !!!

Aren't they the cutest things ever?!?!? Perfect for the upcoming holidays!!

You can find them NOW over at the store HERE!

Our Inspiration Monday this week is based off of this sketch created by Sandie!

Sandie's Sketch

For my card today, I worked with Baby New Year Luka. My little boy said, UH Momma, why is he almost naked?? LOL!! I was like....that's how you walk around the house, so what's wrong? He said, these stamps always have clothes on. HAHAHA!

 Copics:
Skin: E000, E00, E01, E11
Hair: E47, E44
Hat: BG10, BG13, BG15, R24, R27, R29, Stickles
Sash: BG10, BG13, BG15, Stickles
Bell: N4, C3, Stickles

I decided to try something new for me on this card and found instructions HERE for a Shaker Card. I didn't have any confetti, so I made my own with star stickers and Martha Stewart Tinsel Glitter. It's a bit time consuming, but for a New Year's Card I think it was a perfect fit! I also flipped Sandie's sketch on it's side.

I used several LLLC Dies on this card: Filigree Corner Die, Lotus Die, and Wave Border Die.

Here's a closer view of the shaker part. I used a Spellbinder Die to make the frame. The 2013 are number stickers. The star brads are from the Paper Studio.

I hope you can see more of the dimension in the side view. Baby New Year Luka, the arrow and the Lotus flowers are all raised on pop-dots. The dp is from MME Good Day Sunshine and the cardstock is from Core'dinations.

Well, that's it for me today! I hope you enjoyed my shaker card!! You should really try to make one yourself....it's not difficult and would definitely be less time-consuming if you buy some confetti, haha!
In the meantime, you should check out the La-La Land Crafts Company Page and Group page on Facebook. We also have a twitter feed!!

Don't forget if you participate in our challenges, please link them up to the Customer Gallery and be in for a chance to win a prize.

Thanks so much for visiting!!
Hugs!!

Yumi & Fumi Challenge--NO Patterned Paper!

Happy Sunday to all of you! We hope you've had a great week so far. :) You do realize it's the middle of October, right? Do you also realize there are only 72 more days until Christmas....yeah, CRAZY! Just thought I'd throw that little reminder out there for ya (wink, wink).

Today also marks the first challenge for the month of OCTOBER on the Yumi and Fumi Blog, which means this challenge has a prize attached to it, WOO HOO!!
The lucky winner will receive 1 Y&F Rubber Stamp of our choice! We will pick one Prize Winner and 3 Top Picks.

Today we have a new challenge to announce!

Our challenge for the next two weeks is:

No Patterned Paper!

You MUST use a Yumi & Fumi Handmade, Sister Stamps, La-La Land Crafts or The Greeting Farm image to participate in our challenges. Any project not using these images will be deleted.

Please take the time to review all of the Challenge Rules HERE to make sure you qualify (the rules are under "Challenge Info" at the top tab). You have until Saturday, October 27th, 11am PST to link up your new project on the Yumi and Fumi Blog (one entry per blog please).
For my project today I used the super CA-UTE Chasezilla!! He's just the most adorable thing ever!! I colored him with Copics on X-Press It Blending Card.
Copics:
Skin: E000, E00, E01, E11
Eyes/Eyebrows: E47, E44
Suit: G21, G24, G28, YR21, YR22

I was inspired by a frame I saw in Pinterest. I'm always pinning stuff to my boards every day, but generally I don't have to time to make anything from it.....sound familiar?!?! Well, this time I decided to put all that pinning to use!! For my projected today, I used a really cheap wood frame from Walmart. I covered the top of the frame with different sizes of googly eyes that I found at Hobby Lobby. Then I dry embossed some green cardstock with Cuttlebug Tiny Bubbles. I cut out different circles from the green paper and glued them on randomly. To bring out some of the texture I rubbed a little black ink over certain parts.

The cute Halloween ribbon came from Michaels. I also found this awesome Martha Stewart felt spider web trim at Michaels too.
I hope you liked my Halloween Frame!! I will say it took forever to glue down all those googly eyes....which is why I only did half the frame, LOL! Now, don't forget to come by and "like" our Facebook Fan Page, so you can stay up-to-date, get your challenge reminders, and share your stuff!! Please join us in our challenges too.....we would love to see your beautiful cards/projects!

Have a great week and see you here soon!

Yumi & Fumi Challenge--EMBOSSING (wet or dry)!

Happy Sunday everyone! It rained cats and dogs here all day yesterday!! I haven't seen that much rain in a long time. Every time I thought it would lighten up, it just got heavier. It wouldn't have been so bad if we got to just chill at home and eat soup and drink hot cocoa, snuggled up on the couch watching movies. But we had lots of errands to run including buying a long board at Home Depot for my son's bed. Talk about getting soaked trying to get that bugger into the SUV!! Then we had a bday party to go to in the evening so we got to be out on the slippery, wet roads with all the crazies, haha!

To say the least we haven't done much today, but sit around and relax. Well, actually I was scrambling to get this card done.....while the hubby got in a 2 hour nap!!

It's been busy at Yumi and Fumi Handmade and I hope you've been enjoying the new releases as much as us ladies on the DT. Did you see the cutie patootie Kigurumi Release?? I think they are adorable and so perfect for those sweet Halloween pages coming up! For me though, they are perfect any time of year because my little one and his cousins play dress-up whenever they want to! If you missed the Kigurumi Kids, then check out our post HERE. :)

Today we have a new challenge to announce!

Our challenge for the next two weeks is:

EMBOSSING (wet or dry)!

You have until Saturday, October 13th, 11am PST to link up your new project on the Yumi & Fumi Handmade Crafts Blog (one entry per blog please).

For my card today I used an image from the Back to School Release called Yumi with Book. I'm still caught up with the school spirit and wanted to create something I could give to one of Isaiah's "girl" friends sometime soon.

Copics:
Skin: E000, E00, E01, E11/Chalk
Hair: E47, E44, E41
Shirt/Socks: R29, R27, R24, R22
Skirt/Shoes: N8, N6, N4, N2
Sweater: N2, N0, Black
I found a really cute 8x8 DCWV paper pad called "The Edumacation Stack"....yes, people it's really spelled that way, haha! It full of cute school dps and several have embossed designs on them. The background dps are all embossed and shiny/glossy....LOVE it! Even the designs on the banner and the sentiment are embossed. I used my Cuttlebug Polka Dots Embossing Folders on the yellow dp.

The ABC border on the white cardstock was made with a Martha Stewart Border Punch....cute for school, huh?!?! The "I (heart) School" ribbon is from the Paper Studio.

Here's a side view so you can see the dimension. The flowers are from Recollections and the Paper Studio.
Now, don't forget to come by and "like" our Facebook Fan Page, so you can stay up-to-date, get your challenge reminders, and share your stuff!! Please join us in our challenges too.....we would love to see your beautiful cards/projects!

Inspiration Monday--Lace & Pearls

Happy Monday y'all! How was your weekend? Mine was okay. My little man is either experience really bad allergies or he's getting sick. I can't tell which one, but he's really snotty. :( Usually if he's sick he runs fever. So far it hasn't come to that so I'm thinking something in the air is setting off his allergies. We'll see how this morning goes.

Well, it's Monday and of course that means another La-La Land Crafts challenge for you. This week our theme is:
LACE and PEARLS!

I decided to use one of my fave LLLC stamps, Darling Marci. :) I love her cute little bob and how she's sitting! She's colored with Copics and chalk, and I paper-pieced her dress. :) I also used LLLC's Filigree Corner Die in the corner.

 Copics & chalk:
Skin: E000 & chalk
Lips: R32
Hair: YR23, YR21, YR31
Clothes: Paper-pieced and shaded with chalk
Shoes: R32, BV23, chalk

The lace paper doily is from the baking section of Walmart. It's always nice to find crafty stuff in unexpected places. The flowers are from Recollections and WOC. The ribbon is from my stash and the Adore ticket is from Tim Holtz. The embossing folder is Cart-Us Ornament Circles.

Have a great week my friends and see you back here soon!

Hugs,
Rosie :)

Yumi & Fumi Kigurumi Kids Release!!

Today the owners of Yumi and Fumi, Renate and Leanne, are in Sacramento at the Original Rubber Stamp Convention. They are having a great time and will have lots more to share on the Yumi and Fumi Handmade Crafts Blog when they get back!

But before they left, they designed a new series of stamps called...

KIGURUMI KIDS

You might be wondering what is KIGURUMI?  Well, Leanne looked it up online and found this pretty awesome description from an Anime Cosplay Shopper Blog

I'll give you some of the definition and a couple of links so that you can read the whole concept and see some real Kigurumi costumes.
What Is Kigurumi?  (Key-gu-ru-mee)
A type of cosplay that employs a full body suit, similar to a fur suit. It is most commonly used with animal costumes but can also be worn to emulate people, mechs, mascots, etc. Kigurumi are dressed in character from head to toe. They usually wear masks that encompass their entire head rather than just their face. Characters like Mickey Mouse from Disneyland and Barney from Barney the Dinosaur are referred to as Kigurumi in Japan.
Kigurumi is a part of Japanese culture, which represents performing people who dress up like popular cartoon characters. The word is actually a combination of the Japanese words kiru (to wear) and nuigurumi (stuffed toy). Often seen in places like anime conventions, theme parks and even shopping malls, a kigurumi costume always adds to the festivity of the occasion. Even from American culture, things like football mascots and Winnie the Pooh can be worn and considered kigurumi suits. There is no limit, in fact, to the amount of things a kigurumi costume can be. Their range often includes:
■Pikachu ■Hello Kitty ■Winnie the Pooh ■Anime characters ■Animals

Here's a link to a Kigurumi shop where you can browse and see all the fun outfits. :)
