Zoe challenged the team to use watercolors for our flowers for the monthly challenge on the Make it Colourful Challenge Blog. Once again this was difficult for me! I've never used watercolors, and since I'm visiting my mom I didn't have anything with me. I ended up buying Crayola watercolors at Walmart...probably not the best for a professional result, LOL!

I learned some things throughout the watercoloring process.
1.) I don't have the patience to watercolor, haha! Waiting patiently for layers to dry before adding more paint was tiring. However, my fellow DT sister, Andrea, said to use a heat gun to speed up the process! Yeah...that would have been nice to know ahead of time, hahahaha!
2.) It helps to watch some videos first.
3.) I found if I lay down a dark area first, let it dry, and then spread some of that color lightly outward, it works better for me. I didn't do that on the roses part. I figured that out when I did the leaves. I think if I had used watercolor pencils I would have liked it better.
4.) It helps to color in the background first.
5.) If you lay down too much color, you can re-wet the area and dab a napkin over the area to pick up the watercolor!

Now don't forget to head over to Marika's Blog to continue on with the hop! And we hope you join us in our month-long watercolor challenge HERE!

Hugs,
Rosie :)

Spectacular results - gorgeous watercolouring, Rosemary! Amazing for a first attempt using watercolours, especially considering the ones you had access to using. You'll definitely have to play more with some quality watercolour paints.

Wow, who knew crayola watercolors could make something that pretty. Well it's not the paint it's the painter really. See just goes to show a true artist can use cheap paint and make something that gorgous. I must also say how resourceful you are, lol. I started following you, can't wait to see what you make next.

For not watercoloring before and with it just being a crayola set this sure looks awesome...crayola watercolors must not be that bad after all lol. sadly can't sell them cause I don't think they have the lightfast quality needed but they still look good enough to make a card for someone evidently cause your card is amazing...the flowers are awesomesauce seriously!!
