CropStop Challenge-Show Us Your National Colors

This week's challenge at CropStop is to show us your National colors. I live in the U.S.A. so that means red, white & blue! It's also approaching the anniversary of our Nation's Independence Day, July 4th. To top it all off, my 12-year wedding anniversary to the most wonderful, supportive, loving, and AMAZING man is July 3rd! We've been together a total of 17 years and I love him more now than I ever have. Furthermore, he's an awesome father and very hands on with our son, which makes me appreciate and love him even more. To say the least, I am very blessed!

Today, I decided to use Tilda in Star Dress....she's very patriotic waving her flag....perfect for this challenge! I colored her with Copics and then did the shading on her face and clothes with chalk. I added Stardust Stickles to the red areas of her dress, hair bows, and white stars. I also added Glossy Accents to her white shoes to give them that patent leather look.

I made another Circle Easel Card and got the directions from Norma's Blog here. I used my SB Classic Scalloped Circles Large, Scor-Pal and Scor-Tape to put the card together. The dp on the top is from Creative Imaginations and the dp on the bottom is from The Paper Studio. The red, felt ribbon is from Michael's "Celebrate It" line. The glittery, blue swirls are made by Jolee's. The star embellishment on the ribbon and the sentiment are Americana Grand Adhesions Dimensional Stickers from K&Company.

The red chipboard frame is from CTMH. It started off white and I inked it with red ink. The white dashed lines are embossed on the chipboard and show through when you add the ink. The white pearls are also CTMH.

Here's a side view. I raised Tilda up on pop-dots.

Well, that's it for me! I've got a busy weekend ahead of me. Hubby has already got a hotel reserved for the Anniversary weekend, but didn't tell me which one. We are keeping this one low-key since we're heading to WA to see my family in a few weeks. I do know that there will be a little shopping involved. I'm always wanting scrapbook stuff, but this time I might venture out and do something different....we'll see, LOL!

Have a great weekend and see you back here on Monday!

Hugs,
Rosie

La-La Land Crafts Inspirational Monday

Did ya have a great weekend?? I hope so! We celebrated my now 5-year old son's b-day on Saturday. We had a "BATMAN" party at our house with 2 blow-up water slides (there's a story behind having 2 slides...part of it revolves around me running over the first slide and dragging it down the road last year....funny now....not so funny when it happened), bouncy thing, and about 30 people (13 of them were kids). I'll come back later in the week and post pictures. :)

It's Monday and another La-La Land Crafts Inspirational Monday showcase for you. Head on over to the La-La Land Crafts Blog to see the awesome creations from my fellow DT sisters. :) If you haven't heard, La-La Land Crafts is posting inspiration every Monday & Friday. My fellow DT members are split into two teams, Team Monday and Team Friday, so you'll get to see tons of ideas with the Marci & Luka line of stamps. You can participate too and upload your creations to the Gallery! We would love to see your work! So get your La-La Land stamps out and join us in our weekly inspiration.

The inspiration today is to "Make a Circle Card." I decided to use the ever-so-sweet Darling Marci.

Isn't she a cutie?! I colored her with Copics, Chalk & Stardust Stickles. You can see the details at the bottom of my post. Her dress is actually paper-pieced and then I did the shadowing with chalks.

Here's the front view of the card. All the paper is from Close to My Heart. I love that their paper packs have cardstock and dps together.....all designed to coordinate! It definitely makes designing a card or scrapbook page much quicker & easier!! At different points throughout the year, CTMH will have special kits they release and this one was called Miracle. It had coordinating embellishments (ribbon, brads, buttons) and embossed-resist chipboard pieces (butterfly and frame). You just rub ink over the chipboard pieces and the white design shows through.

You can see better here on the frame around the sentiment. I used CTMH Sweet Leaf ink and rubbed it on the chipboard frame and the white scroll lines appeared. The sentiment is also from CTMH. Now, are you wondering where did that part of the card come from, I didn't see it in the pics up top? Well......

Surprise....it's a Circle Easel Card! I found an awesome tutorial on Norma's Blog: From My Craft Room. Since this is my first ever Circle Easel Card I kept it simple and didn't do the swing part on the bottom of the card, but I think I'll try it on my next one.

The flower is from WOC. The rhinestone swirls and white pearls came from my stash. I hope you enjoyed my card and I wish you all a great week ahead!

Card Recipe

Stamp: Darling Marci (La-La Land Crafts)

Bow/Trim on Dress/Shoes: B00 & chalk

Accessories: SB Scallop Circle, WOC flowers, Rhinestones (my stash), Pearls (my stash)

Happy Summer!

Hip, hip hooray....it's almost FRIDAY! Actually for me, this Friday is coming way too fast. I feel like this week is flying by....probably because I have 50 million things to do before Saturday. My little boy, Isaiah, turned 5 on Tuesday, June 21st...the first day of summer! Yes, he was born on the 1st of day of summer five years ago and he's brought me so much joy and sunshine since then. The hubby and I took him to Chuck-E-Cheese on Tuesday and spoiled him pretty much all day....so much so that he thinks Tuesday was called "Isaiah Day", haha!

He had a great time and said he wished his birthday was every day. I don't think our bank account could handle that, LOL! We're having his birthday party at the house this Saturday with family, friends, and lots of kiddos. We have two blow-up water slides so there will be lots of wet & wild fun! Unfortunately, my house is a disaster because I've been working on DT cards, so I have lots of cleaning up to do before then....UGH!

The challenge this week at CropStop is to use "Summer" as your inspiration. I decided to use Happy Tilda....she's just so happy about summer and Isaiah's birthday party, haha! I think this image is adorable and so versatile for various celebrations. She just makes me smile...almost giggle!

She's covered in lots of Stardust Stickles. I also added Glossy Accents to her shoes to give them that shine. For the background scene I used a free digital image from Make It Crafty called Rainbow Landscape Set. The scene is colored with Copics and the sky and grassy areas are shaded with chalk. I also cut out additional cloud shapes, added liquid applique to the top to give them the puffy look and raised them on pop-dots.

I used my SB Labels One and traced the template to make my window. I used my X-acto knife to cut out the window and around the roses. The flowers in the corner are from Wild Orchid Crafts. The beautiful ribbon came from CropStop. The beautiful dp with roses is from Pink Paislee Sweetness. The sentiment came from two different Close to my Heart stamp sets and stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

You can see better in the side view where I cut the window out of the front of the card and attached my scene to the inside. I also used pop-dots behind Tilda. The pink polka dot paper came from my stash. I used Scor-tape to put my card together. You've got to try it...it's amazing!! I use it for all my 3-D projects too because it holds like nothing else! The other great thing....you don't need scissors to cut it! You just tear off what you need....easy peasy!

I hope you get a chance to play along in our CropStop "Summer" Challenge this week. We also have an additional contest going on until June 30th for our "Celebrate Summer" blog hop. You can see all the details on this contest here. Each Creative Team member has a different challenge for you. The more challenges you complete and link up before June 30th, the more chances you have at winning some awesome prizes!! I hope to see you there!

Have a great week my friends!

Today, I'm using Marci with Rose.

I think she's just the sweetest thing...with her fancy hat and holding her rose. She reminds me so much of my mom. My mom is an amazing woman and she loves her hats and her gardening! Her backyard should be featured in Better Homes and Gardens. The work she puts into it is overwhelming, but it's the most beautiful backyard in the world. I just wish I had inherited her green thumb. Everything in my flower beds in practically dead, LOL! I plan on visiting her this summer so I will take pictures and post them when I get back.

Here's a side view. I used pop-dots behind the paper doily and behind Marci.

My challenge for you is called "Under the Sea" and I want you to create a card or 3-D project with things found in the sea.......such as seashells, fish, sea creatures, mermaids, fishing nets, etc. I've made a Shadow Box Card using Little Mermaid Tilda & the Magnolia Seahorse. I found this awesome tutorial on how to make this card on Heather's Blog here and used my Scor-Pal and Scor-tape to put it together.

I used various Jolee Stickers (fish, seaweed, starfish, clam) to create my scene. I gathered raffia together, tied a bow and glued a WOC flower to the middle. I got the fish charm (under the bow) from Walmart. The netting and sea shells were in my stash (I think I got them from Hobby Lobby). I embossed the blue cardstock on the front with Cuttlebug D'vine Swirl and rubbed CTMH white ink over the top and edges. The textured blue paper on the inside is from The Paper Studio. The sentiment is from TPC Studio Undersea Adventures and stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa. I cut it out using SB Fleur De Lis Accents and inked the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I covered a bunch of stuff with Stardust Stickles.

Here's a side view so you can see some of the dimension. I raised Tilda, the Seahorse, and Sentiment on pop-dots.

Have a great time and I hope you enjoy this FUN blog hop and contest!!

CropStop Challenge #24-Embossed Embellishments

Before, I get to my card, I wanted to let you know that CropStop is having a Creative Team call...YIPPEE!! CropStop is looking for 2 committed team members to bring inspiration and creativity to our site through card and layout projects. The Creative Team call is open to all, including international submissions. The Creative Team term is August 1, 2011-January 31, 2012. Deadline for submission is July 15, 2011. You can see all the details here.

This week's challenge at CropStop is to use your embossed papers as embellishments. For my two embossed embellishments I made a cream/pink rose and a large, embossed butterfly. I used Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die to cut the petals from cream cardstock. I then embossed them with Cuttlebug Perfect Paisley and swiped Worn Lipstick Distress Ink over the flower cut-outs to bring out the embossing. Then I followed this video tutorial to make the rose. Boy, making flowers is a lot of work, but definitely cheaper! I think the more practice I get with them, the easier they will be.

For the large butterfly, I just used Cuttlebugs Butterflies Emboss & Cut set. How simple is that?!! It has a die that cuts out the shape and then there are 4 different butterfly embossing folders included. I LOVE it!! I cut two butterflies and glued just the bodies together so I could fold up the wings of the top butterfly. After embossing the CTMH tulip cardstock, I used a sanding block to expose the white core. Then I topped the entire thing with Stardust Stickles and added white pearls for the body.

Here's my girlie card (you can see the full recipe at the bottom of my post)! I think this card is one of my faves. I used Sweetie Tilda and colored her with Copics and chalk. The center of her dress is paper-pieced. Her sleeves, socks, & bows are colored with Copics and chalk and then covered in Stardust Stickles. I used SB Lacey Circles for the frame behind Tilda, embossed it with Cuttlebug Swiss Dots and rubbed Walnut Stain Distress Ink over the dots. The pink frame is cut using SB Floral Doily Motifs and edged with Stardust Stickles. The pink panel is embossed with Cuttlebug Perfect Paisley. The kraft border was made using SB Parisian Accents.

Here's a close-up of Sweetie Tilda:

Here's a side view. I used pop-dots behind Tilda and behind the pink frame. The champagne colored pearls are from Close To My Heart. The white pearls for the butterfly bodies came from my stash (I think they are Recollections).

You can participate too and upload your creations to the Gallery! We would love to see your work! So get your La-La Land stamps out and join us in our weekly inspiration.

As most of you know, I tend to gab a little (sometimes a lot) on my blog. But today, I'm keeping this post short and sweet. I've been dealing with food poisoning the past week and my system still isn't right this weekend. I've been up in pain for the past several hours (it's 2:00 am). As I was getting cozy in bed, I remembered I didn't get my post ready for Monday. So I freaked out and got on my laptop to get this up and going so it can go live on time. You can see the full recipe for my card at the bottom. :)

Today, I'm sharing my card using the sweet Sugar n' Spice Marci. I think she's so CUTE holding her little cupcake. The 3/4" white grosgrain ribbon is from my stash. I used my Bow Easy to make the double loop bow....I love that thing! It's one of the things in card-making you should definitely invest in. I just wish I had invented it! :)

Here's a close up of Sugar n' Spice Marci. She's colored with Copics and Chalk.

Here's a side view so you can see the dimension. I raised up Marci and the sentiment with pop-dots.

Card Recipe

Image Stamp: Sugar n' Spice Marci
Sentiment: CTMH Tasty Treats (D1427)
Papers: Recollections White Cardstock/Red & Yellow Cardstock (my stash)/My Mind's Eye Out & About Glitter Paper Pack

CropStop Challenge #23-Use 2 or more embossing folders

It's Thursday.....WOO HOO.......just 1 more day until TGIF!! I'm looking forward to this summer because my wonderful SIL (with 3 kids) is taking my little boy every Thursday & Friday so hubby and I can have some date nights. Isn't she wonderful?! I love that gal!! It's nice that we live so close because my son gets the opportunity to grow up knowing his cousins. My husband and I are both military brats so we didn't get to grow up with those close-knit ties to our extended family. It's something I've always wanted for my child and it is a true blessing since he is our one and only.

Thursday's also mean another new challenge at the CropStop Challenge Blog. For the month of June we are highlighting embossing folders (see post here). The challenge this week is to use two or more embossing folders. Don't forget, all challenges during the month of June will have an added plus with them! Use embossing on your project and you'll have the opportunity to win a Tim Holtz, personally autographed embossing folder each week that you enter! At the end of June, CropStop will put all of the month's entries into the pot and draw one random winner to receive a colossoal embossing folder prize!

For my card I used the oh-so-cute Sweet Tilda. I don't usually use orange (not one of my fave colors), but I had this image colored up and decided to just go with it. I really like how it turned out. I think the white and orange together looks clean and simple. You can see my card recipe below. The orange Recollection Pearls came from my sweet, awesome friend Chris!! We met through the Magnolia-licious Yahoo Group and have become great friends. We've been swapping stuff across states which is so much fun! I love that gal!!

The two embossing folders I used were Swiss Dots (on the white cardstock) and Perfect Paisley (on the orange panel). To bring out the embossing on the orange, I sponged some CTMH white ink over the top. The Fiskars sentiment is stamped with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink. I then used one of the dies from Spellbinders Floral Doily Motifs to make the white frame for the sentiment.

Here's a closeup of Sweet Tilda. I used Copics and Chalk to color her. Unfortunately, I don't remember the exact Copic colors I used since I colored her up a few months ago. I do know that I used YR02 for the orange and then shaded with a darker orange chalk. I used Stardust Stickles on her hair bows and the white areas of her dress and socks. I covered her shoes with Glossy Accents to give them that patent leather shine.

Here's a side view. Sweet Tilda and the sentiment are raised up on popdots. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the roses are from Recollections. The white, sheer ruffle edge ribbon is from CropStop.

Here are the challenges I'm entering my card in:

The Official Magnolia Inspiration Challenge Blog-Birthday
The Shabby Tea Room-Embossing
Papertake Weekly-Anything Goes

CARD RECIPE
Stamps: Magnolia Sweet Tilda / Sentiment: Fiskars Wishes All Around
Ink/Coloring Medium: Memento Tuxedo Black/Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink/Copics/Chalk

I hope you enjoyed my card! Don't forget to join in our challenges for some awesome prizes.

La-La Land Inspirational Monday-Buttons & Bows

It's Monday and another La-La Land Inspirational Monday showcase for you. We would love to see your work, so get your La-La Land stamps out and join us in our weekly inspiration.

Today, I'm sharing my card using the sweet Marci with Flower. She's such a ray of sunshine! You can see the full recipe for my card at the bottom. :) The bright, fun dps and cardstock came from TPC Studio Bugs and Butterflies. I used Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 10 for the mats behind Marci. I embossed the green panel with the floral/heart folder that was in Cuttlebug Love's in the Air Embossing Set. I then used sandpaper across the top to bring out the white inner core of the cardstock. The pink and green buttons were from my stash. The 3/4" white grosgrain ribbon is also from my stash. I used my Bow Easy to make the double loop bow....love it!

Here's a close-up of Marci with Flower. I used blue chalk to make my sky background. I find chalk really easy to work with and the great thing with chalk is that if you mess up you can just erase it! It's definitely a relief when you are working on a background and you don't want to cut out your image. I'm always scared when working with ink that I'll accidentally get too heavy handed and get blue ink all over my nicely colored Marci. Who wants to start from scratch, right? I've been asked by Irina to work up a tutorial on the sky background so stay tuned. :)

Here's a side view so you can see the dimension. I raised the yellow panel behind Marci on popdots.

CARD RECIPE:
Stamps: Marci with Flower (La-La Land Crafts)
Paper: TCP Studio Bugs & Butterflies/Recollections White Cardstock
Buttons/Braiding Cord/Ribbon: my stash
Tools: Cuttlebug Love's in the Air Embossing Set/Spellbinders Nestabilites Labels 10/Bow Easy
Copics & Chalk:
Skin: E000, E00, E02
Cheeks & Lips: R20
Hair: E29, E25, E33
Pink areas: R81 & chalk/Bottom scallop on shirt: RV34
Pants: B93 & chalk
Flower Pot: Prismacolor Sienna Brown & chalk
Dirt: E29, E25, E33
Flower: YR02, YR0/ Y02, YR23/ G21, G24
Grass: YG97 & chalk
Sky: chalk

CropStop Sketch Challenge-Scout Luka Memorial Day Card

It's June already and to tell you the truth I am in shock! How can it be June already?? How did those other months fly by so fast?? I feel like as I get older the time flies faster and faster. I feel like I have so much to do and so little time to do it in. I just want life to slow down a little, KWIM?!

There is one good thing about June....it's my turn to post projects this month for CropStop... YIPPEE! I know I've already got a million things to do with it being summer break, but they have the most amazing challenges that really get my creative juices flowing. If you haven't checked out the CropStop Challenge Blog, you should definitely head over there and join in. There are always amazing prizes up for grabs!

The challenge this week is a sketch by our fabulous sketch designer, Gloria. Here is my Scout Luka Memorial Day Card using her amazing sketch. I flipped the sketch on it's side. I embossed the Recollections Kraft Cardstock with Cuttlebug Floral Screen Embossing Folder. Then I rubbed Walnut Stain Distress Ink over the embossed areas to bring them out a little. I embossed the blue cardstock strip (from my stash) with Cuttlebug Stars Embossing Folder, and rubbed CTMH white ink over the top of the stars. I glued thin red ribbon behind the lacey tan ribbon. Some of the red swirls were made using my QuicKutz Flourish Die and some were made with my new Magnolia Heart Swirl Die.

I colored my Scout Luka with Copics and chalk. I also added CTMH Liquid Glass to the magnifying glass and his little belt buckle. The Chocolate Pearls are from CTMH...aren't they gorgeous!

Here's a side view so you can see some of the dimension. I raised Scout Luka and the embossed kraft cardstock on popdots.

CropStop's June Product Highlight

It's a new month and CropStop has a new product highlight...Embossing! During the month of June, the CropStop Creative Team will inspire you with their embossing projects. We will be giving away our usual Gift Certificate prizes weekly, but have some of these awesome personally autographed embossing folders to give away each week also!

All challenges during the month of June will have an added plus with them! Use embossing on your project and have the opportunity to win a Tim Holtz, personally autographed embossing folder each week that you enter! At the end of June, CropStop will put all of the month's entries into the pot and draw one random winner to receive a colossal embossing folder prize!

Now go pull out those embossing folders and get busy!

Hugs,
Rosie
